Hugo Chavez this week ordered the nationalization of the Venezuelan operations of Owens-Illinois, the Ohio-based manufacturer of glass products. Some might remember the kidnapping in the mid-1970s of Owens-Illinois exec William Niehous, who was held by his leftist captors for three years. Some of those kidnappers are now in the government. See this interesting follow-up report in the Toledo Blade newspaper from August 2004.
