Prosecutor orders governor arrested

A prosecutor has ordered the detention of Chuquisaca Department prefect (state governor) Savina Cuellar in Bolivia. Savina is a longtime opponent of President Evo Morales, who she describes as a crook and a communist. Morales is the first indigenous president of Bolivia, and this is a clear indicator that the indigenous support for his government is not monolithic. There also are several presidential candidates running against Evo in the December election. The prefect of Pando Department has been jailed for more than a year in La Paz, under charges brought by a Morales-stacked judicial system, and the president of the Supreme Court is jailed and on trial in La Paz under accusations of "hindering justice." He didn't move fast enough against Morales's foes.
